Guangzhou Design Week 2025: A Heartwarming Encounter with the “Dear” Theme

2025/11/13 45

December in Guangzhou brings a refreshing coolness to the air, yet it can’t dampen the passion of design enthusiasts. The city’s creative pulse quickens in anticipation of its annual design extravaganza. From December 5th to 8th, 2025, Guangzhou Design Week returns, extending an invitation to experience the warmth and beauty of its “Dear” theme.

Understanding the Language of “Dear”

The concept of “Dear” may seem simple, yet it captures the most touching essence of design. In our fast-paced world, we need designs that help us slow down and appreciate life’s beautiful moments. As you explore the exhibition halls, you’ll discover:

  • A chair whose curves perfectly embrace a tired body
  • A lamp whose gentle glow comforts during late-night solitude
  • A space whose layout thoughtfully connects family members

These seemingly ordinary design details all whisper the true meaning of “Dear.”

The Unique Charm of Three Venues

The Poly venue is always bustling, but with smart timing, you can enjoy a more comfortable visit. I’d suggest avoiding weekend morning crowds or starting your exploration from the relatively peaceful top floors. Last year here, I met a designer who incorporated childhood memories of bamboo weaving into modern furniture—each piece carried the warmth of time.

Moving to the Procurement Center, the atmosphere feels more relaxed. At a small booth I stumbled upon last year, a young couple showcased文创 products made from recycled fabrics. They shared with smiles that these pieces documented their love story while expressing care for the environment. Such thoughtful creativity always makes the visit full of delightful surprises.

The Haizhu venue resembles a living lab for future lifestyles. Here, technology blends seamlessly with human warmth—smart homes become understanding companions rather than cold machines.

Making Your Visit Truly Enjoyable

Years of attending have taught me the importance of these preparations:

  • Wear shoes that feel like old friends
  • Bring a lightweight backpack for inspirations and collections
  • Carry ample business cards to exchange design perspectives
  • Keep your phone fully charged—you’ll want to capture beautiful moments

Pre-registering online not only saves queuing time but helps you plan which booths to visit. The Professional Visitor Pass offers real value, especially if you hope to have meaningful conversations with brands you admire.

Corners You Won’t Want to Miss

Beyond the main exhibition areas, these spots often hold unexpected joys:

In the Emerging Designers zone, you’ll feel the freshest creative energy. A designer I met here three years ago now runs his own studio. He shared that Design Week gave him not just exposure, but precious opportunities for direct dialogue with users.

Take your time in the Materials Experience area. Touch the textures, listen to their stories, and you’ll find each material has its own character. An eco-friendly material I discovered here last year became my first choice for multiple projects due to its unique quality.

The International section always offers new perspectives. Seeing how designers from different cultures interpret the “Dear” theme reveals that beauty needs no translation—emotion resonates across boundaries.

Thoughtful Visiting Tips

Shuttle buses between venues are convenient, but allowing ample transfer time makes for a smoother experience. Dining areas get busy during lunch—consider exploring authentic local cuisine around the venues, which is an experience in itself.

It’s worth noting that KANOD’s workshop is about an hour from the main venues. While they’re not exhibiting directly this year, those interested in craftsmanship might find a visit rewarding. Last year’s visit showed me their master artisan’s dedication to every detail—a reminder that “Dear” is also expressed through committed pursuit of excellence.

Carrying the Warmth Forward

In this age of efficiency, Guangzhou Design Week continues to protect design’s original intention. Slow down, feel with your heart, engage sincerely with creators, and you’ll discover: the most moving designs always spring from love of life.

Looking forward to meeting you in Guangzhou this December, where we’ll discover the accessible warmth within design together.

Friendly reminder: Specific exhibitor information and event schedules are subject to on-site announcements.
